Since my animated array video done in blender was such a hit, I made a tutorial on how I did it. Enjoy!
So today and last night I decided to work on some animated arrays in Blender. If you have no clue what this is, basically what you do is make one object, like a block, and tell Blender to make copies of that block and spread them out based on a number or an object. I decided to search for a video on YouTube to see if I could find a tutorial, but that didn’t work. I found someone who said that they made their video off of a tutorial and I asked them what video they watched to create the effect. He said it was http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=yb_TbxpAwKE so I watched it, got the hang of it, and started to make my video. I knew that adding some colors and transparency would spice up my final creation, so I did that, too.
Well, here’s my video.

Tell me what you think!
So today I finished the modeling of my person i sketched on paper. The YouTube video is below.[kml_flashembed movie="http://www.youtube.com/v/UqgbzM33etg" width="425" height="350" wmode="transparent" /]
Today I set out to start designing and rigging my very own, made from scratch model of a person. I know it won’t be very hi-res or photorealistic, but I have to start somewhere. If I focus on the modeling too much, the animation will look poor because I won’t spend as much time on it. That’s at least what’s running through my head right now.
I started the process by drawing out a very simple character on paper with a pen. I made the limbs separated to ease the modeling and animation process. I took a picture of the drawing with my digital camera, put the SD card in my laptop, put the picture on my desktop, opened blender, set the picture as my background image, and got to modeling. I found it’s only necessary for me to do two angles for the original drawing.
I’ll post my progress. Right now, I have the body, head, and legs modeled. I haven’t gotten to the arms, rigging, or animating yet.
